OUR HISTORY
In 1997, a group of farm operators and landowners called a meeting to discuss growing environmental issues surrounding production agriculture. The group felt that an organization should be established to facilitate environmental improvements on the farm and help the region address growing natural resource concerns. Numerous state, federal and private natural resource agencies and regulators were recruited to help develop what became the Delta F.A.R.M. Program.
In the summer of 1998, a pilot program was initiated to determine if the program could succeed. 161,000 acres were enrolled in the program in less than 6 months. With quick found success and seed money secured though allied agricultural interests, the farm leaders who help establish the program decided to expand the pilot program and formally establish Delta F.A.R.M. in October of 1998.
